Use the breath to calm the mind and body. Practice taking 3 deep breaths before or after each transition throughout the day. After morning announcement, after recess, after lunch, before tests.

Confidence lives in our core! Twist your tummy to boost your confidence. Do a few rounds of windmills before tests or presentations.

Cross overs link both sides of the brain to create smarter and stronger connections. Do a few rounds of one hand to opposite knee or hand to opposite shoulder. GReat before tests!

We have buttons on our body to wake us up, keep us healthy, calm .and ready for the day. Each of these can be used separately.
1. Wake up buttons: Underneath the collarbones, tap and say “I am so awake!” Tapping under the collarbones after lunch will give an energy boost.
2. Health: In the middle of your chest, at the sternum, tap and say “I am so healthy!” Tap the sternum during cold and allergy season.
3. Open Energy: All along the rib cage, tap and say “I am ready for this day!” Tap around the rib cage before a lesson.
4. Keep Calm: Underneath the eyes, lightly tap or gently rub that bone and say “I am so calm!”
Gently tap under the eyes if nervous in class.

Tap your thumb to each finger while you say “I am so… smart, calm, confident, brave.” What we say and think to ourselves is important! Keep the mind and body connected with tapping. Begin or end your day by choosing a positive word and tapping it out.

Anger is one of the strongest and most physical emotions we carry. It’s ok to be angry, but we need to be responsible in how we handle our anger. Squeeze and Release and the S.O.S. are 2 strategies to help manage your anger.

Squeeze your fists as tight as you can, make muscles in your arms and legs, squeeze your whole body, take a big inhale, exhale and release everything. This will begin to tire out your muscles and release the physical feeling of anger from your body.

Stand back, Observe, Steer! It’s important to create space in situations that don’t feel good so remember the S.O.S.! Take a Step Back to create some space. Observe what is happening so you can decide if you want to leave a situation. Steer yourself in a different direction to create space and make a better decision.
You can use this list as inspiration, or cut it out and put the words in a jar or bucket. We like to have the words cut out and in a jar or bucket for the kids to pick a word, tap it out, and use it on their I AM STAR!
The I AM... worksheet is a Shine Bright staple. We use it after we pick positive words and tap them out. The kids can then fill in their star and decorate it with all the positive words they want. Whether it is one word or 10 words, teaching a positive train of thought never gets old.
Gratitude brings us back to the present moment and opens the heart instantly. Our Grateful Heart worksheet is a great way for kids to reflect on what is important to them.
